New Cria is Here! The House is for Sale! Alpacas! Photo!

Just as we reached the car to head for the airport, the cell rang. “Your cria is here and he’s a big one.” Quick questions were answered, but not extensive ones since the baby had chosed to arrive amid a snowstorm on the coldest (so far) day of the rapidly approaching winter. The temperature would drop to 23 Farenheit before dawn.

When you choose to agist, make sure you choose someone like Carla and Don Llewellyn of Fox Run Suri Alpacas in Wanship, UT. They have taught and are teaching us everything any of us can think we might need to know in Oklahoma so we can stand on our own. Anyone who has one can sell an alpaca, but not everyone can teach what to do next even if they try their best.

We leave Oklahoma bound forSalt Lake City where we will put our lovely Avenues home on the market.

It is the kind of house that people stop and take pictures of: painted pale green brick, rocking chair porch with a swing, white picket fence, tall ceilings, garage, hot tub, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Sigh. We’ll miss summer days rocking on the porch, talking with the neighbors.

While we are waiting for a photo of Sonnet’s latest cria, here she is with last year’s model, Cavatina.

Sonnet is a fantastic mother with lots of milk, who births exceedingly healthy crias. Coming soon, the new cria and the latest undated photos of the house and barn.

Cavatina and Madrigal are both Sonnet’s daughters and SkyKing is this year’s cria. This group seems to operate as a family unit. I see a lot of sweet interaction. Somehow, they all seem to be aware that they are family.

Glad you liked them. I love getting comments. I try to add more every day or two. As you know, your can never see too many alpacas.

Good luck on your move. I hope moving means you are with your alpacas. We will miss our house in the Avenues of Salt Lake City, but our move means we can get up and look out the window and there they are. Sheer bliss. 🙂
